Our Story

My name is Spencer Simcik. I founded this company in 1986, right out of high school. What started as a small workshop has grown into a lifetime of building mattresses by hand, opening 21 retail locations with family and friends, and creating beds for people all across the country. Over the decades, I’ve earned a reputation as one of America’s top mattress makers—trusted in celebrity homes, hospitality projects, and local communities alike.

Why We Build the Way We Do

For me, mattress-making has never been about shortcuts. It’s about understanding how the body works. A healthy spine needs true support. That’s why our designs focus on posture first. Comfort means nothing without alignment, and alignment means your mattress should never give where your spine can’t.

Out of this philosophy came the Hard-Ass Bed—one of the firmest mattresses ever made.
